Ryan Reynolds may be a worldwide superstar, but he never forgets where he came from.
He’s shown that once again with his latest efforts to help his province through fundraising efforts for Pacific Wild, a Victoria-based conservation group that protects wildlife and their habitat in BC’s Great Bear Rainforest.
On Canada Day, Reynolds made a pledge to match all donations to Pacific Wild through BC Day, which is Aug. 3, up to a maximum of $50,000.
Make Ryan Pay! Ryan Reynolds' pledge to match all donations to Pacific Wild this July. from Pacific Wild on Vimeo.
In less than a week, donations hit $50,000 and Reynolds matched them, which meant a total of $100,000 to the very important cause.
The efforts didn’t stop there, however, as an anonymous donor was so inspired by Reynold’s idea, that they decided to match additional donations up to $25,000.
Now, in basically one day, around $7,500 has been donated towards that toll, which means a total of $115,000 has been raised and the number is quickly climbing toward $150,000.
At this rate, maybe we’ll see another donor step up and encourage matchable donations towards Pacific Wild.
