“Minimize your exposure to avalanche terrain during heavy precipitation if you choose to brave the weather,” the forecast warns.

The BC River Forecast Centre has issued a high streamflow advisory for the Island this week.

Environment Canada expects heavy rain to last through today and into tomorrow morning.

On West Vancouver Island, rainfall amounts of 120 to 150 mm. Inland areas should get 40 to 50 mm.

Rising freezing levels with melting snow giving rise to high stream flows and localized flooding.
