An outbreak at the Ts’i’ts’uwatul’ Lelum assisted living facility in Duncan has been declared over by Island Health today.
Island Health declared an outbreak at the facility on Jan. 7, 2021, after one staff member tested positive for COVID-19.
The staff member was put in isolation at home, and officials conducted contact tracing to identify possible exposures.
No other staff or resident cases were identified related to this outbreak.
“The facility is now open to new admissions and transfers. Essential and social visitations can now resume at the facility,” said Island health.
Ts’i’ts’uwatul’ Lelum is owned and operated by M’akola Housing Society.
During the outbreak, Island Health worked with leadership and staff at the facility to support steps to protect the health of residents and staff.
