5 COVID-19 outbreaks declared in Victoria, 3 officially over

Victoria residents should be aware of a number of COVID-19 outbreaks currently affecting the city.

According to Island Health, five new outbreaks have been declared at long-term care homes. The existing outbreaks at Eden Gardens, Kiwanis Village Lodge and the Amica Douglas House are officially over.

At Selkirk Seniors Village, one resident has tested positive. This outbreak has been limited to only the sixth floor.

Luther Court has two residents and three staff members with cases. The affected residents are located in the 2 east unit of the home.

One staff member and one resident tested positive at The Heights at Mt. View. The outbreak has been contained to only the fourth floor.

James Bay has three residents with the virus. They are on the fifth and sixth floors of the building.

Royal Jubilee Hospital is the final location for new outbreaks. Three patients have currently contracted the virus in the 8 South East general medicine unit.

"It is still safe to seek care at RJH and people should not avoid seeking emergency care if they need it."

In order to keep everyone safe, only essential visits will take place at the affected areas, staff movement will be limited and group activities are being halted.
