The first of two phases of construction to install critical water main infrastructure in Rose Valley is now finished.
According to the City of West Kelowna, crews have installed large sections of transmission mains and completed road reconstruction and paving work in the West Kelowna Estates and Sunnyside neighbourhoods.
It’s all work tied to the new Rose Valley Water Treatment Plant, which is only months away from completion.
With phase one out of the way, Westlake Road has fully reopened between Menu and Ourtoland Roads.
“Crews will shift to water main installation along the embankment between Blackwood Reservoir and 1406 Parkinson Rd. starting this week,” the City explained. This work is necessary to connect the West Kelowna Estates water system to the plant.”
Phase two of construction will begin in the spring. It includes installing the remaining sections of transmission mains, along with active transportation upgrades on Westlake and Parkinson Roads. There will also be drainage improvements on Rosewood Drive.
Transmission main installation is the last and final stage of construction on the Rose Valley Water Treatment Plant, which is expected to be complete in the spring.
